Kyle Tefft was born and raised in Santa Barbara. While studying music at Santa Barbara City College, Kyle learned to appreciate the value of teachers who could inspire their students and create a safe and friendly educational environment. His passion for music and teaching was noticed by his instructors and he was asked to teach the begging woodwind pedagogy class at SBCC, where he taught groups of 10 plus students at a time. Kyle moved to Los Angeles where he earned his Bachelors degree at Los Angeles College of Music in Pasadena. While enrolled, he was asked to tutor other students in music theory and musicianship. He's also played in local bands in the Southern California area, including with Michael McDonald during a number of his charity events. Kyle's areas of expertise are based on saxophone technique, tone production, jazz theory and improvisation. He also tutors basic music theory and composition, as well as instruction to beginning flute and clarinet students. Kyle always strives to be his best for both his students, his bandmates, and for the integrity of the music he is playing.
About

Testimonials
Kyle's ability to dignify errors and quickly follow up with succinct suggestions for improvement, made him very popular with the younger students. his positive attitude was infectious and transferred to the students with which he interacted. Soft spoken in conversation, but with the ability to roar like a lion with the horn in his hands, he has played a major role in the positive vibe exuded by my ensembles.
